Bakers & Co Painting And Decorating are proud to announce that we are now a Queensland government recognised Healthier. Happier. Workplace!

The Queensland government’s Healthier. Happier. Workplace initiative, previously known as Workplaces For Wellness, was formed to help Queensland employers create working environments that improve the health and wellbeing of their employees, increase business productivity and workplace culture. Within the program we are able to learn more about workplace health, set up effective health programs and access a wide range of resources for our employees that they will be able to use in both the workplace and at home to get them started on their better health and wellbeing journey.

The Healthier. Happier. Workplace initiative focuses on:

  • Healthy eating
  • Physical activity
  • Healthy weight
  • Quitting smoking
  • Reducing harmful alcohol consumption
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Sun safety

Helping improve the health and wellbeing of employees has a number of benefits for both the workers and the workplace, some of these benefits include:

  • Increased productivity
  • Improved staff health and wellbeing
  • Increased staff morale, motivation and satisfaction
  • Reduced sick leave
  • Reduced risk of accidents
  • Improved alertness and concentration among staff
  • Improved corporate image

Bakers & Co is small business who considers each and every one of our workers as family, so their physical and mental wellbeing is extremely important to us! As a part of the initiative, Bakers & Co is in the process of creating a Workplace Wellness Program that addresses the health issues we face in order to help our workers make healthy, positive lifestyle changes.

We care about our employees and their needs, so we will be conducting a needs assessment to identify what health issues are most important to them and identify their priority areas. This will give us a good understanding of what the Bakers & Co team wants to improve most on within their individual lifestyles so that we can incorporate these into our Workplace Wellness Program. The ultimate goal of the program is to provide our team with the knowledge and motivation needed to help make positive lifestyle changes both within the workplace and at home.

A Bakers & Co wellness committee has been formed to help create and implement healthy initiatives within our workplace. Success comes easier when everyone works together, which is why our committee is made up of members from management, painters and administration to ensure that the needs are met across both our job sites and our office. The committee will be responsible for promoting our Wellness Program throughout the company, getting everyone involved and encouraging our team to continue working towards their wellness goals!
